GOMTI
ACTION PLAN |
|
The
Gomti Action Plan (GoAP)
was formulated in the year
1993 for three towns, namely
Sultanpur, Jaunpur and Lucknow
situated along the banks
of river Gomti. The approved
cost of the project was
Rs. 61.01 Crores against
which the component for
Sultanpur and Jaunpur was
Rs. 10.72 Crores and that
for Lucknow was Rs. 50.29 Crores.
It has been proposed to
intercept, divert and treat
7 mld.. sewage at Sultanpur
and 14 mld.. at Jaunpur.
The implementation of the
project in these towns was
started on the sanctioned
schemes but was delayed
primarily due to delay in
acquisition of land. In the mean
time the cost
of works also went up to
Rs. 8.99 Crore for Sultanpur
and Rs. 18.12 Crore for Jaunpur.
A comprehensive DPR costing Rs. 23.08 Crore for
remaining works at Sultanpur-Jaunpur
has been submitted to Govt.
of India, but its approval
is still awaited. In the meanwhile,
such works at Sultanpur
were taken up for completion
which can be made functional
within the approved cost.
Accordingly STP of
1.7 mld capacity has been
completed . Efforts are
being made to get the
revised cost estimate
approved by the Govt. of
India at the earliest so
that works could be taken
up. |

GOMTI
ACTION PLAN AT LUCKNOW |
|
The
pollution of river Gomti
at Lucknow is mainly due
to discharge of 26 drains
directly into
the river in the city area. Presently the
quantity of effluent being
discharged in the river
is about 345 mld. which
is likely to increase to
about 440 mld.. in the year
2011.
The Gomti Action Plan at
Lucknow was started in the
year 1995 with British financial
assistance through the erstwhile
Overseas Development Agency
(ODA) of the Govt. of U.K.,
in which Rs 5.92 crores were
spent on cleaning of few
trunk sewers and their Close
Circuit Television (CCTV)
survey, some emergent sewerage
works, cleaning of two major nalas, namely Sarkata and
Pata Nala.
The British Govt. however,
terminated the financial
assistance in July 1997.
There after the GoAP is
being funded by GOI & GoUP. For interception and diversion
of five drains falling into
river Gomti in upstream
region and treatment of
sewage, total 9 schemes have
been approved by Govt. of
India for Rs. 42.90 crore
against which 7 schemes of interception and diversion and 42 mld
sewage treatment plant have
been completed and made
functional. 2 schemes (Kukrail
IPS and Rising Main) were
sanctioned by GOI in June
2003 which are still under
execution. For
diversion and treatment of
sewage of remaining 19
drains at Lucknow, a comprehensive project costing Rs.
263.26 Crore has been
approved by Govt. of
India under GoAP-II. Two
new STP have been proposed for
which land acquisition
activity is in progress. An expenditure
of Rs.15.617 crore has been
incurred by the end of
December
2005 under GoAP-II. |
