 • GANGA ACTION PLAN
The Ganga Action Plan (GAP) is being implemented in 12 towns situated on the bank of river Ganga. Out of these 12 towns, 8 towns including 4 towns of phase-I are taken up under Ganga Action Plan (Main Stem), 3 towns are taken up under Ganga Action Plan (Supreme Court) as per directions of Hon,ble Supreme Court and 1 town (Kanpur) is taken up under Ganga Action Plan Support Project.

 • GANGA ACTION PLAN (Main Stem)
The Ganga Action Plan (Main Stem) covers additional works in the 4 towns of phase-I and 4 new towns, ie., In 8 towns, namely Varanasi, Allahabad, Farrukhabad, Mirzapur(Vindhyachal), Garhmukteshwar, Mughalsarai, Saidpur and Ghazipur. The cost of the works in all 8 towns, as approved by Govt, of India is Rs. 101.04 Crore.

 • GANGA ACTION PLAN (PHASE-II) AT VARANASI

Under the Ganga Action Plan Phase-I at Varanasi, 3 sewage treatment plants were constructed with total installed capacity of 101.80 mld.. However, the present waste water flow generated in the town is about 309 mld. Hence, it is necessary to implement further I&D and treatment works which have been taken up under GAP (Phase-II). The Hon'ble High Court, Allahabad too has given directions to make fool-proof arrangements for abatement of pollution of river Ganga at the holy cities of Varanasi and Allahabad.
The Present approved C.C.E.A. cost for Varanasi is Rs. 47.52 Crores. 4 schemes including a scheme for 37 mld STP, costing Rs. 43.92 Crore have been approved by Govt. of India against available approved C.C.E.A. cost which are under construction.

GANGA ACTION PLAN (PHASE-II) AT ALLAHABAD
Allahabad is situated at the confluence of river Ganga and Yamuna. The GAP (Phase-I) covered interception and diversion of a total of 90 mld of waste water, out of which 87 mld was diverted from Yamuna segment and 3 mld from Ganga segment. A  60 mld STP  was constructed at Naini. However, at present about 210 mld waste water is flowing in the drains joining river Ganga and Yamuna . Therefore, after the diversion of 90 mld.. in phase-I, 120 mld of waste water still remains to be intercepted and diverted as well as sewage treatment capacity too has to be enhanced by augmenting the existing STP as also by constructing new STPs. The present approved C.C.E.A. cost for Allahabad is Rs. 34.49 Crores against which a scheme for interception and diversion of a drain and a scheme for 29 mld capacity STP have been approved by GOI.
