Saidpur and Ghazipur,
the approved C.C.E.A.
Cost is Rs. 19.03 Crore.
A total of 33 mld. Waste
water discharging in the
river Ganga is proposed
to be intercepted, diverted
and treated in these towns.
For this purpose, 4 nos.
STPs are proposed to be
constructed.

COURT ) |

3 towns
namely Bijnore, Anupshahar
and Chunar have been taken
up under the GAP (Phase-II)
on the direction of Hon'ble
Supreme Court of India.
A total of 21 mld. Waste
water discharging in the
river Ganga is proposed
to be intercepted, diverted
and treated in these towns.
For this purpose, 3 nos.
STPs are proposed to be
constructed.
A total of 17 schemes
proposed for these towns,
10 schemes costing Rs.
12.74 crores have been
approved by Govt. of India,
out of which works of
4 schemes have been completed
and an expenditure of
Rs. 4.53 Crore has been
incurred up to the end
of December 2005.

GANGA ACTION PLAN-SUPPORT
PROJECT, KANPUR |
|
In the
phase-I of the Ganga Action
Plan, the pollution abatement
works at Kanpur were executed
with financial assistance
from the Royal Netherlands
Govt. These works could
take care of only 171
mld. of sewage discharging
into the river Ganga.
However, as the waste
water generation in the
town is about 371 mld,
therefore, 200 mld is
still finding its way
into the river. The further
works required to intercept,
divert and treat the remaining
200 mld of sewage, along
with works for water supply
improvement and rehabilitation,
low cost sanitation and
solid waste management
have been taken up in
GAP (Phase-II) . This
project at Kanpur has
been named as Ganga Action
Plan-Support Project (GAPSP)
and for execution of the
same, a grant agreement
between the Govt. of India
and the Royal Netherlands
Govt. has been entered
into in July, 1997 for
financial support of NLG
51.24 million, i.e., Indian
Rs. 105 Crore. The present
approved C.C.E.A. cost
for Kanpur town is Rs.
90.29 Crore.
Out of total 17 proposed
schemes under GAPSP, 16
schemes (14 by GOI and
2 by GoUP) have been approved
for a total cost of Rs.
115.42 Crore against which
4 schemes have been completed.
Scheme for 200 mld STP
costing Rs. 67.17 crore
is still under process
of approval with Govt.
of India. The financial
assistance from Netherlands
Govt. has been stopped
and the project is being
financed by GOI as centrally
sponsored scheme. An expenditure
of Rs. 71.267 Crore has
been incurred up to the
end of December 2005.
